Iranian short films win at Berlin festival

Four Iranian shorts are among the Berlin Flash Film Festival’s winners in May competition.

Four short films from Iran have been among the winners of the May edition of the Berlin Flash Film Festival in Germany.

The winners include ‘The Hands’ by Shayan Naqibi, ‘Angels Do Not Die’ by Alireza Biglari, ‘Predestination’ by Mohammad Vahedi, and ‘Don’t Worry’ by Mana Pakseresht.

Written and produced by Biglari, ‘Angels Do not Die’ is an attempt to appreciate the sacrifices of the medical staff and the healthcare workers.

It has been produced during quarantine days and is presented to Narjes Khanalizadeh, the first nurse who lost her life fighting coronavirus.

Written and directed by Pakseresht, the short flick ‘Don’t Worry’ narrates the story of a teenager who is alone at home on her birthday due to self-quarantine.

Though, her mother who is a nurse and is in the hospital has a surprise for the girl.

Naqibi’s ‘The Hands’ depicts some moments of the life of an old man who lives alone.

The Berlin Flash festival is an online event held monthly. It welcomes micro and super short films and scripts.

All the monthly winners are accepted to vie at the annual edition of the Berlin Flash Film Festival.
